Mindfully Preparing for Easter

Day & Date: Saturday 19th April 2025 ONLINE EVENT

Time: 11.00 - 12pm

At Easter we celebrate new light and new life.

Darkness gives way to new light.

The darkness of Calvary gives way to the new light of Easter Sunday.

As we reflect on our world today, it is a world of great hunger, famine, war, conflict – great suffering, darkness and death.

Easter is a time for us to reflect on how we can bring new light and life into the world.

How can we begin again with hope and confidence?

Giving hope and confidence to others.

Gathering the suffering people of the world into our hearts.

So this Easter, let us look again at our lives.

The lives so generously given to us.

We don’t realise the good that we can do.

We don’t realise how much we can help other people through dark valleys.

The dawn that is rising this easter morning is a gift to our hearts.

We are meant to celebrate it – to carry away from it the gift of healing and light and the courage to begin again.

This is the Easter challenge for us.

A chance to listen, to meditate and to chat.

Children in State care being ‘placed in danger of abuse and exploitation’

In a recent article in The Journal Sr. Stan warned that the placement of homeless children in bed and breakfasts and the growing waiting lists for out of hours supports have opened many children in state care up to exploitation.

Extreme poverty is right in front of us – and what are we doing?

Extreme poverty is right in front of us – and what are we doing? One in five children go to bed hungry, yet State safety nets are actually being taken away, writes Sr. Stan in a recent piece in The Journal
